President’s Message

Dawn-Marie Richards, President, NAJ
Dawn-Marie Richards, NAJ President

It is with great gratification that I greet you as the 36th President of the Nurses Association of Jamaica. I am delighted to have been entrusted with your confidence and belief in my abilities to lead this noble organization at this time. I am convinced that success in this position cannot be achieved alone. I anticipate the guidance of those with a common vision for the growth and development of the Association.

The NAJ will continue to actively engage membership and seek to continue supporting the socio-economic welfare of our members. Since nurses account for the largest portion of the healthcare workforce, nurses must be actively involved in the discussions and processes related to Primary and Secondary Healthcare Reform. We will continue to ensure that the voice of nurses remains relevant in discussions affecting nurses and health care delivery nationally, regionally and internationally, we will engage the relevant communication pathways. The visibility of the Association will remain high on the agenda as we seek to educate people about nurses and nursing.

I implore you colleagues to become involved in discussions on national issues such as the amendment of the Constitution of Jamaica – keep abreast with articles that are published on the various topics, attend, and participate in meetings. These activities have an impact on all of us. To you our members I say come along on this journey to greatness, as we play our part in advancing the mission of NAJ. and I implore you to be ” a voice to lead ” as we remain “United in Service”.

Dawn-Marie Richards
